PAVLIK
Angeline Rose Pavlik (nee Hydrew) age 99 passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Sunday morning September 27, 2020.
Angeline was the wife of the late Albert J. Pavlik Sr; predeceased by Grandson Stephen Pavlik, Daughter-in-law Regina Pavlik, Son-in-law Michael Oberholtzer Sr, Son George and Son-in-law Richard Boeckel, and her only sibling, Brother George HyDrew. Loving Mother of Albert Pavlik Jr, Agnes Oberholtzer and Andrea Boeckel. Adoring Grandmother of Theresa Kinee, Michael Oberholtzer Jr. (Amy), Christopher Oberholtzer and Tiffany David. Proud Memom of Madelene, Natalie, Michael Oberholtzer III and Daniel David. Cherished by many family members, friend-family members. The outpouring of Love this past week, just honestly shows how much our Mother WAS loved by so many.
Our Mom was always a nurse for as long as we can remember. She worked many years at Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital as an Operating Room Nurse, and in Labor and Delivery. In 1963, Mom went back to college at Gwynedd Mercy College at the age of 44, to receive her Registered Nursing Degree. Mom was a "pioneer" in older women going back to college. At that time, not only was she pursuing her degree, she had 4 children at home, two which were younger, and she was working fulltime also. After Graduation in 1965, she continued to work at Fitzgerald Mercy until 1968, where she gained employment at the Veteran's Administration Hospital until her Retirement in 1983. She also volunteered at Our Lady of Perpetual Help School, as the school nurse on Friday's, where my sister Agnes and I went to school.
Another interesting thing about Mom, she did not learn to drive until she was in her forties. My brother George was in Viet Nam, there was his car, so why not?! Thank goodness, because otherwise we walked everywhere, or took the bus, trolley, or El, no matter where we went.
There were two things our Mother was passionate about. Her Faith in God, and her Family. Mom converted to Catholicism in the early 40's, so she could marry our Dad. That is the way it was back in the day. EVERY night before she fell asleep, she prayed the Rosary. In the recent years, if she fell asleep while praying, anytime she woke herself up snoring, she continued to pray the Rosary until it was finished. And it amazed me, with all the sudden losses of family, her Faith NEVER waiver. I pray that if I live to be that age, my Faith is just as strong. And her Family, we all grew up knowing Love, caring and compassion. We knew manners, prayers, respect, and to treat others the way they wanted to be treated. There was NOTHING she would not do for her children, Grandchildren, and Great Grandchildren. When the Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren were born, that baby was always in her arms. And she did not share well with others when it came to holding a baby!! Nothing made Mom beam more than holding one of her "babies".
Until recently, Mom had a passion of doing the daily crossword puzzle out of the newspaper. Yes, she still received the daily paper! And don't dare let the paper be late. When she would come and stay with me in Virginia, that was something we enjoyed doing together. Sadly, at the end of her life, Mom became blind by Macular Degeneration.
I could go on and on about our Mother, but she was such a humble, proud woman, and would be embarrassed of this already. She was not crazy being the center of attention. A trait I inherited.
Visitation will be Thursday from 10am to 11am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church at 2130 Franklin Ave. Morton, Pa. 19070. A mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow Visitation. Interment will be at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, 1600 S. Sproul Rd, Springfield.
