Brian J.
O'Donnell
d. Jun 19, 2022
Philadelphia
Brian Joseph O'Donnell
July 15, 1960 – June 19, 2022
Brian J. O'Donnell, died suddenly on June 19, 2022. Brian was predeceased by his parents Francis Patrick O'Donnell and Dolores T. (Swoboda). He was a devoted brother to his siblings Terrence F. O'Donnell (deceased), Michael T. O'Donnell and Karen Ann Davis. He was a loving Uncle to Jonathan C. Davis and Kimberley (Rocha) and Lauren A. Davis and Mark Adler. Proud Great Uncle to Kassidy Jo, Charleigh Grace, Madelyn Rae and Harper May Davis.
Brian grew up in a time when you lived in not only a neighborhood but also a parish. He was proud to be a life long resident of Mayfair and a graduate of both St. Matt's and Father Judge. It was here that he forged life long friendships that were also family to him and whom he appreciated having in his life.
Brian lived at that time in life when you became a teenager, you would all meet up to "hang out" at places like Dayton's, Ma Browns or the Playground (Mayfair). When teenage years became his 20's he continued to enjoy those same friendships spending time at "the shore", dirt biking in the mountains and going out clubbing (and boy he could dance) to see his favorite band Lecompt.
When spending time with his family during these same years he would sometimes regret those late nights when his nephew Jon and niece Lauren would be encouraged to go upstairs and jump on Uncle Brian's bed to wake him up to play. He loved showing them off to his friends and would often put them in a stroller for a walk to the playground (I knew he also had a secondary motive using them to attract the girls). And as the years went by, "Uncle Brian" continued to always give them all the love and support he had in his heart.
Brian's warm and fun loving spirit was always a draw to anyone who met him young and old. This even extended to all our furry family members. He was the family dog whisperer to all of our Sheba's (yes 3 of them), Dallas, Lil' Buddy and Yuki whose devotion was returned with many a tongue baths.
Brian was a proud Irishman and with some of his friends had the opportunity to visit the homeland of our ancestors. Brian enjoyed traveling but what I believe was his "happy place" was being in Wildwood enjoying sun, sand, surf and the boardwalk (the kid in him) and as most recently as his last days got to spend time with good friends there.
There will never be enough words to express what a loving, kind and gentle man he was or how much he will be missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Friday June 24, 2022 8:30am to 10:00am at the Edward J. Petner Funeral home (family owned and operated) 6421 Frankford Ave. Phila.
