CAROLE A. DUNWOODY
August 10, 1939 – March 2, 2026
Carole A. Dunwoody born in Philadelphia to Edward G. Riley, Sr. and Anna Fryling was the youngest of her two siblings, Jean and Edward (both deceased). She was the loving mother to Danielle Weix (James Copek) and John Dunwoody (Lisa Dunwoody) and doting grandmother to Lainey Weix. She is also survived by a niece and two nephews.
She attended Lincoln High School and after graduation began working for PECO Energy (Exelon) for many years which she truly enjoyed. In her 50's, she decided to go to night school at Montgomery County Community College and received her Associate's Degree in Business.
Carole loved her family very much and would do anything for them. She also had a love for animals and especially for Shar-Pei dogs. Carole was known for her generosity, fun fashion style and shopping sprees. She would often show up with gifts "just because". Carole enjoyed going out to dinner at any restaurant that had great chicken parmesan or who would be willing to burn her steak to a crisp. She was also an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan.
In her younger years, Carole would spend time at the Jersey Shore enjoying the sun and sand; boating; collecting sea shells; going deep sea fishing and crabbing; and playing cards and board games. Years ago, she raised and cared for many rabbits and helped stray cats find loving homes. She was known to stop her car and pick up turtles in the middle of the road so they wouldn't get hit.
Carole lived life as she wished and she will be greatly missed. She will be forever loved and remembered.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Carole's viewing Saturday March 7, 2026 10:00am to 11:00am at The Edward J Petner Funeral Home followed by her Christian Burial Service 11:00am. Interment will be private for family.
A Celebration of Carole's Life will be held at a later date.
