Genevieve Jennis was born in Shamokin, Pennsylvania, a coal mining town upstate. Sibling of Clara, Lawrence, Leonard, baby Rita and Jeanette, all pre-deceased.
She moved to Philadelphia where she attended Dobbins Vocational Tech, class of '51. Gen then spent some time living in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania , when she started dating John Pieczynski, her future husband. They settled in the Mayfair section of the city . She was a secretary with SKF (ball-bearing manufacturer) until her first child Theresa was born, followed by Martin(Lori) and later Laura.
Genevieve, a lover of reading and classical music, was a long-time member of St. Timothy parish in the northeast.
Gen was a proud grandmom of four: Brianna, Taylor, Jillian and Brooke; and she was lucky enough to meet her one great-granddaughter Zion Sage.
She courageously battled Alzheimer's disease for many, many years. She spent seven years residing at Deer Meadows nursing and re-habilitation home where she was cared for by many wonderful angels on Earth.
She peacefully left her suffering behind on July 18th, 2022.
Mom was a stubborn, loving and devoted woman, wife, and mother who her children were blessed to have had. They don't make strong Polish women like this any more!
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing Saturday July 23, 2022 9:15am to 10:15am at St. Timothy Church, 3001 Levick St. Phila. PA, 19149. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30am. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Genevieve's name to the Alzheimer's Association
