JOSEPH W. O'MEARA

JULY 26, 1927 - AUGUST 19, 2021

Joseph W. O'Meara of Philadelphia passed away peacefully on August 19, 2021 at the age of 94. Son of the late William John O'Meara and Mary M. O'Meara (nee McManus), brother to the late William O'Meara (Gertrude), Marie Sangillo (Raymond) and Helen Baker (Raymond). Uncle, or more affectionately known as "Unc" to William O'Meara (Renie), Trudy Mandia (Bill), Rose Werner (Tom), Raymond Sangillo (Mary), Robert Sangillo, Mary Rohner (Donald), the late Raymond Baker (Charlene), Jerry Baker (Wendy), Mary Ann O'Neill (Ed), and Kathy McCormac (Dave).  Unc had many great nieces and nephews, and even great-great nieces and nephews, all who loved him dearly.

After serving in WWII, Joe worked as a surveyor in the city of Philadelphia until retiring in the 1980's. With his newfound free time, Joe filled his days by being around family and friends, watching boxing or the Philadelphia Phillies with a cold beer, or having lunch at the Dining Car. Joe also loved the Philadelphia Eagles, and was known to host an annual Super Bowl party. A diligent note taker, Joe was never one to forget a birthday, anniversary, or special event. He was also a devout Catholic who attended mass sometimes multiple times a week and was a member of St. Bartholemew's senior citizen group.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend his viewing Wednesday August 25 2021 9:30am to 10:00am, St. Dominic Church 8504 Frankford Ave. Phila.Pa., 19136. Mass of Christian Burial 10:00am followed by his interment at St. Dominic Cemetery
