KAREN M. SWANSON

MARCH 7, 1963 - OCTOBER 18, 2023

Karen M. Swanson (nee Hamilton) passed away on October 18 after a long and difficult illness.  Karen was born in Philadelphia to the late John and Mary Hamilton.  She was the devoted wife of Neal for 38 years until his passing February 18, 2023.  She was a beloved mother to her daughters Nicole, Brittany, Melissa, Miranda (Alex) and JoLynn. She was a doting Nana who spoiled grandchildren Sienna, Riley, Kayden, Fiona, Ryan, Wyatt, Maeve, Skylar, Leo, and the late Tristan and was the most excited that Miranda and Alex are having another baby.  She was predeceased by brothers John (Jackie) and Daniel Hamilton and is survived by Michael Hamilton and Susan Sheehy, sister.

She was the family member who could always make her nieces and nephews laugh and was the "fun aunt."   She loved the shore and always loved the beach. She was a fighter, dealing with a body that let her down before her spirit ever faded.  That didn't stop her from telling stories, and she was always on her phone - talking and texting. While we will miss her, we know she is at peace now.  She wanted to be with Neal again and become an angel for her children, grandchildren and other friends and family.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, 8:30 am to 10:00 at the Edward J. Petner Funeral Home (family owned and operated).  Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 am at St. Timothy Church, 3001 Levick Street, Phila. PA 19149.  Interment William Penn Cemetery.
