It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Karen Verrecchia (née Tharney) at the age of 59 on March 19, 2024. A longtime resident of Philadelphia, PA, Karen will always be remembered for her compassionate nature, unwavering kindness, and the joy she brought to everyone around her.

Karen is survived by her loving husband, Gary Verrecchia, her mother Carolyn, her stepmother Denise, her sister Linda, and her father-in-law Raymond. She will be dearly missed by her nieces and nephews, Abigail, Ainsley, Calvin, Robert, and Emily, as well as her extended family and a host of friends who were touched by her warmth and generosity.

A memorial service to celebrate Karen's life will take place on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Edward J. Petner Funeral Home, 6421 Frankford Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19135, with visitation from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM followed by a remembrance service at 11:30 AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the Woman's Humane Society: https://womensanimalcenter.org/make-difference , an organization dear to Karen that reflects her compassionate spirit and love for animals.
