REID

Born in Shreveport, Louisiana on August 12, 1953, Kathryn F. Reid lived much of her life in Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania. The third of four daughters of William and Elizabeth Reid, Kathryn graduated from Archbishop Wood High School before earning a degree in English from Gwynedd-Mercy College in 1975. She worked as a corporate writer for Colonial Penn and General Accident Insurance before pursuing a freelance career as a gifted writer of resumes and cover letters. She did so while caring for her mother over the course of her long illness.

A lover of literature and music, Kathryn entertained friends and family with her keen wit and beautiful prose, which found expression in her many letters and emails. In the final years of her life she battled a serious illness while still finding time for her friends and neighbors at Mission Green Apartments in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania, where she served as secretary of the resident's association. Kathryn died on October 27, 2018 at Temple University Hospital. She is survived by her sisters Denise, Elizabeth and Ellen, their families, and her beloved poodle Francis.

We will honor Kathryn's memory on Friday, November 2, 10:00am to 11:00am with a memorial gathering at the Edward J. Petner Funeral Home, 6421 Frankford Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19135,followed by a Christian Memorial Service at 11:00am . Interment Private. Donations to the Medical Mission Sisters 8400 Pine Rd Phila., Pa. 19111 are welcome in lieu of flowers.
