Louis E.Perry Jr., 74

Louis E. Perry Jr., 74, lost his battle with pancreatic cancer at home surrounded by family on August 16, 2018.

Lou grew up in the East Falls section of Philadelphia and graduated from Dobbins Vocational High School where he specialized in commercial printing. After high school he worked at a printing company in Philadelphia and later became a grinder and machinist for Nice Ball Bearing where he was employed for 41 years.

Lou is survived by his wife of 50 years, Theresa (nee Smith); daughters, Theresa (William) O'Neill and Rosemarie Perry; grandchildren, Bridget, Gavin, and Brian; and many loving friends and extended family.

Lou enjoyed playing pinochle and horseshoes with friends and family, tending to his garden and fruit trees, and taking photographs. He also enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events. Lou was a connoisseur of the finer delicacies in life such as pickles, hot pickled peppers, hot pickled bologna, and pickled herring. Lou was also the unofficial family event planner hosting multitudes of Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, showers, birthdays, get-togethers, and the legendary family picnic weekend in the Poconos.

Louis, Lou, Louie, Dad, Pop-Pop, Butchie, Papa Lou, Captain, Mr. P, and Mr. Perry you loved and were loved and you will be dearly missed.

A special thank you to Main Line Health Hospice in Paoli for their attentive care and support and Julia and Rich Sparks for opening their home and being so accommodating during this long and difficult period of time.

Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Edward J. Petner Funeral Home, 6421 Frankford Avenue, Philadelphia, Pa 19135 with a memorial service starting at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial donations be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network at www.pancan.org .
