Obituary

Petner

Margaret M "Margie" (nee Myers) age 76, grew up in the Lawncrest section of the city. She was a 1961 graduate of Cardinal Dougherty High School. Margie enjoyed spending her summers in Wildwood growing up. It was there that she met the love of her life Edward J. Petner Jr. Her "Buddy" at the Starlight Ballroom in the summer of 1960. They enjoyed waterskiing all afternoon and dancing all night. They married November 14th, 1964  at St. William's Church. They welcomed their first child Eddie on November 24th 1965, followed by their favorite child Megan on January 10th 1970. After purchasing the funeral home in 1972, Margie and Buddy worked side by side running the family business. They enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Buddy and Margie's favorite pastime was going to Atlantic City and Vegas. She was an avid slot player. A trip to the casino with Margie sometimes felt like a marathon as she hated to leave! She would often say "I can't leave, this machine is  getting hot!" Other than her family, she will be missed by Borgata Casino, as well as many others which she donated weekly and sometimes more.

When not mastering the slots, you could find her dining with the friends she held near and dear to her heart. Michael and Peggy Pilla, Tom and Joan Holt, Frank and Dot Sexton, and Tom and Fran Kelly. Whenever she was with her gang the laughter was always in abundance.

Her home in Wildwood Crest was definitely her happy place. It was here that she enjoyed her family and friends. This only makes it fitting that on Sunday August 30th, Margie passed away peacefully at her summer oasis with her family by her side and her dog Daisy at her feet. It is a comfort to her family to know that she is finally reunited with her close friends Peggy Pilla and Jean LeCompte chatting it up about the knitwits they left behind.

She is predeceased in death by her parents, Edward and Vera Myers, Her brother Eddie, her Sister-in-law Bernie and her granddaughter Angel.

She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Edward J. Jr. "Buddy", Loving mother of Edward J. III "Eddie" and Kate Petner, Megan and Michael Kennedy. Proud mom-mom of Michael, Tori, Megan and Maggie. Dear sister-in-law of Margie Harkins and Chuck.  Dear aunt of Joseph, Shawn, Shannan, Tara, Brett, and Partrick.
