Michael D. Pilla , Jr.

September 27, 1963 – October 16, 2021

Michael D. Pilla, Jr., 58, passed away on October 16 th in Los Angeles. Michael was born and raised in Philadelphia and attended Nazareth Academy Grade School and Holy Ghost Prep. In 1986 he graduated with a B.A. from La Salle University where he was a member of Sigma Phi Lambda. Following this, he earned his J.D. at the University of Bridgeport (now Quinnipiac University School of Law) and moved to Los Angeles in 1990 fulfilling a nearly lifelong dream to emigrate to the left coast. He lived in LA for the last three decades apart from two years when he earned an MBA at Duke University's Fuqua School of Business.

Michael enjoyed the law and being a lawyer. Early on, he was an active participant in LA's growing tech community which fed Michael's passion for the intersection between technology and entertainment.  For the last two years, he loved his workas an attorney for Tik Tok where he was highly respected and often referred to as "the legend."

When not working, Michael enjoyed time with his family and friends along with his passion for sports (Eagles, Raiders,Sixers, Yankees), media, music and always staying current on the news of the day. Michael was born with an insatiable appetite for knowledge. For so many of his family and friends, he was the most informed person we ever met.

Michael was a devoted son, husband, father, brother and friend. Pre-deceased by his mother Peggy Pilla, Michael is survived by his father Michael D. Pilla, Sr., his loving wife Melissa Libre, son Michael Pilla III, his sister Joanne (Craig) Burdulis, his brother Tom (Ketty) Pilla, nephews CJ and Will Burdulis and Samuel Pilla, and finally his faithful four-legged companion Tito Bandido.

Michael loved his friends and family and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.  Relatives and friends are invited to his Memorial Visitation on Monday, Dec. 27, 2021from 9:30 A.M. - 10:30 A.M. with a Funeral Mass at 10:30 A.M. at St. Katherine of Siena Church, 9700 Frankford Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19114. Masks are required. Luncheon to follow.
