Obituary

MATOSZIUK

Olga ("Sunny") Matosziuk (nee Seniw) passed away peacefully on Friday, November 29, 2019 at the age of 95.  She was the loving mother of Lisa Traceski (Greg) and loving sister of Stefanie Norris.  Sunny was preceded in death by her husband, Adolph J., her son, Michael S. and her sisters, Anna Geiger and Helen McCrory.

Sunny's parents were from Oklahoma and moved to Philadelphia prior to her birth.  The family visited Oklahoma during the summers of the 1930's.  While there, Sunny and her sisters would help around the farm by milking cows, feeding pigs and picking cotton.  These visits provided   joyful memories in her life.

Among Sunny's many loves was music.  She played the violin and mandolin while in grade school, leading to her appearance at the 1939 World's Fair in New York as a violinist.   In her late adolescence, she developed a love for the accordion.  Playing the accordion became her passion for the remainder of her life.  In addition to playing music, Sunny loved to dance.  In fact, it was through dancing that she earned her nickname.  Because dancing made her happy and everyone saw that, her fellow dancers began calling her Sunny.

Sunny had an active work life for over 40 years.  During her life, she worked as a supervisor at a paper company, dance instructor at Arthur Murray, photo developer, salesperson, and pharmacy technician for several years prior to her retirement.  Her outgoing personality made her a valued employee wherever she worked.

After retirement, Sunny engaged fully with her interests and hobbies, which included sewing, crocheting, flower arranging and soup making.  Many friends, neighbors and family members were recipients of her soups, flower arrangements and afghans.

She belonged to numerous neighborhood senior citizen clubs.  She enjoyed arriving an hour early to make the coffee and greet each person warmly.  She loved to participate in the many activities at the clubs; bingo gave her the greatest enjoyment.

Interment for Sunny will be private.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, a donation in Sunny's name to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
