For many people they know the gregarious, fabulously wild Paul that was a blast to be around and share a drink with.
For me I remember my twin brother whom I ran with in the woods. Who I rode bicycles with, kicked a ball with, and roamed a suburban Michigan neighborhood with, making friends and playing games til the streetlights came on. We went to school riding the bus together, played in the snow together and finished each others sentences.
We fought like normal brothers, but God help you if you mess with one of us. Some may not know that Paul was quite the soccer player. He would score the goals playing forward, and I played defense. He was a competitive roller speedskater and was quite fast.
He was always the outgoing one, laughing, screaming, and imitating voices. He asked the questions and I stood back and listened. Paul emotional, me the logical one.
Paul could find beauty in things. He could challenge you to find it in something too. He loved making people feel good about themselves. Sometimes by cutting hair, or tweezing eyebrows, or by using make-up.
Paul was certainly the life of the party, loud animated laughter abound, arms painting the hilarity in vivid detail. He was also a great listener, who wanted to hear all about your day.
He will be missed by many, and everyone will remember him in their own way. I'm grateful to have many ways in which I will remember him; from the days roaming the neighborhood bored, to going to the marina where our dad had a boat and throw rocks in the water, watching all the boats go by. Hope you are able to travel the universe Paul and find wonder and beauty, til I see you again.
