Thomas P. Gavin

Tom Gavin was a lifelong Philadelphia resident who grew up on Aldine Street in Mayfair. Tom attended St. Bernard's School and Father Judge High School. Tom is survived by his sons, Matthew and Michael, his sister Rose, brothers Harry and James preceded Tom and now rest in peace.
After serving in the US Air Force, he was honorably discharged after 4 years of service overseas.
Tom's long career included 35 years with Bell Telephone; later Verizon.
Tom married his longtime girlfriend, Eileen Gallagher in 1981. Eileen preceded Tom and passed away in 1994.
Once retired, Tom worked for Nazareth Hospital for about 10 years as a member of the hospital's security staff.
Tom considered his greatest assets to be his sons Matthew age 34 and Mike age 32. Tom's favorite times were those spent with family and friends. Tom supported Roman Catholic High School where his sons attended. He was a member of St. Jerome's Parish, a patron of Father Judge alumni and a an active member of the AOH 39th Division.
No flowers please as they may not be displayed in church during Lent. In lieu of flowers, please donate in Tom's memory to Project Home; a local charity serving Philadelphia's homeless veterans.
