Our History

Edward J Petner Sr. opened Petner Funeral Home in the Port Richmond/Bridesburg area circa 1939. Sometime in the 1940s, he relocated to the Mayfair section of Northeast Philadelphia at Fanshawe and Sackett Streets. In 1950 he built the facility at its present site.

Since then we have been continuing in his footsteps. First, his son Edward J. 'Bud' Petner, Jr. joined his father as a licensed director in 1964. Bud then took over the daily operations in 1972. 

In 1990, the 3rd generation joined the staff. Edward J. Petner III was licensed and worked alongside his father. Megan Petner Kennedy followed soon after in 1992.
